Serving Ministries
At Grace Chapel our mission is to eradicate homelessness in whatever form it presents itself. We believe every person deserves a spiritual, emotional, and physical home.
While we seek to live out our mission every day by helping connect people to the Gospel, we also know God often calls us out of our day to day and into the lives of others to serve.
Little Elm Community Resource Center
A Partnership with Building the Bridges
Building the Bridges Community Services operates food pantry and foster clothing closet programs out of the Colin Powell Center in Little Elm. We will need your ongoing help to volunteer with these programs.

• Wednesdays | 9:30-11:30am & 12:30-2:30pm
• GROCERY PICKUP – Wednesdays, Sept. 24 & Oct. 1 | 8:00-10:00am
Feed My Sheep is a community food pantry. We need help picking up, sorting, and handing out groceries. In particular for the month of September, we need food donations. We are especially in need of rice, canned meats, soups, canned spaghetti sauce, oatmeal, and powdered milk. Donations can be dropped off at the Colin Powell Center each Wednesday or Thursday from 9:00am - 3:00pm.
BUTTONS & BOWS
• Thursdays | 9:30-11:30am & 12:30-2:30pm
• Saturdays | 9:00am - 12:00pm
Buttons & Bows is a clothing closet that supports foster families, adoptive families, and those with kinship placements in their homes. We need help sorting and handing out donations. We also welcome your clothing donations on Thursdays & Saturdays during the closet's operating hours (see above). We need all sizes and styles for children and youth, especially things like socks and underwear.
BLESSING & OPEN HOUSE
Sunday, September 28 | 3:00-5:00pm
We invite members of Grace Chapel & Grace Avenue to come out to the Colin Powell Center for a blessing as we begin opening operations to the public. Come pray for our programs, our leadership, and the people we will serve. See the dream that has become a reality!
We will need some extra help on Saturday, September 27 from 9:00am - 12:00pm to put the finishing touches on the space and set up for the celebration the next day. There is a spot to sign up for this using the button.
Grace Chapel Mobile Food Bank
A Partnership with Tarrant Area Food Bank
Next Date TBA
Grace Chapel is committed to meeting the needs of our community, which includes helping to ensure that everyone has access to nutritious food. We are partnering with the Tarrant Area Food Bank to offer a food distribution location at the church. Families and individuals will be able to drive through our parking lot and conveniently pick up what they need.
Volunteers Needed!
Grace Chapel is responsible for staffing this event with volunteers, so we need your help. Tasks will include parking lot control, collecting information from clients, loading trunks with food, and generally offering a welcoming presence on our campus. These events will be open to the public from 9:00am-11:00am, but we anticipate volunteer needs from 7:00am-12:00pm. We will send out more details as we get them.

Power Packs – Feeding Local Kids
No parent or guardian should ever be put in the position to choose between paying the rent/mortgage and utilities or feeding their families. Through our Power Packs Ministry, we seek to provide the basic necessity of food for children at local elementary schools. Children receive a bag with non-perishable food items to help supplement the families’ groceries each weekend.

serve the global community
Operatión Abrigo
We partner with other local United Methodist churches to send teams to build homes near Juarez, Mexico each year with Operación Abrigo.
Operación Abrigo was founded in 1996 by Rev. Jose Luis Portillo in Tierra Neuva, Mexico. Since then, over 7,000 homes, two churches, a medical clinic, and a vocational school have been built to serve the poor in the community. The homes are built of cinderblocks with a cement floor. Each team is led by maistros who teach the team how to mix mortar and lay the blocks. The family often helps build the home alongside the team. At the end of the weekend, the team and family participate in a home dedication ceremony.
